the upbeat anthem that we all need this spring
Release date: TBA
Oslo Twins' danceable new earworm Miss Yesterday is an ode to optimism after difficult times.
Miss Yesterday evokes anticipation and warmth with its bright, rich instrumentals, trance-like beat and laid-back vocal and lyrical tone.
‘It’s a song of joyful nostalgia, filled with hope and affection, and perhaps a darker hint of “Let’s just run away from everything, there’s nothing but us, f**k it all”.’
Miss Yesterday was produced with Ali Chant (Yard Act, Katy J Pearson, Aldous Harding) at his very own 'Playroom' studio in Bristol. It forms the second instalment of Oslo Twin's debut EP, which is to be released on Ali Chant's label 'Close Recordings'.
'It's a love song, really - an expression of nostalgic but optimistic love. "No one sees the world like we do." We wrote it during the strict lockdown, collaborating remotely. Eric had made his garden shed into a makeshift studio. Claudia's lead vocal on the track is just a voice note from her phone.'
"Probably my favourite vocalist at the moment"
The song was written entirely remotely, in strict lockdown; keyboardist Eric Davies had set up a makeshift mini-studio in his garden shed, and Claudia recorded the demo’s lead vocal, which the band decided to use in the final track, as a voice note on her phone.
Oslo Twins are a dream pop/trip hop group from Bristol.
“Our music is both melodic and melancholic but also subtly influenced by dance, industrial and lo-fi music of the 80s and 90s. But our melodies are pop melodies - we always like to have a hook.”
Their music has been featured on Spotify's editorial playlists 'Fresh Finds' and 'Fresh Finds Indie'.
Recently, Oslo Twins have supported the likes of The Comet Is Coming, Do Nothing and Honeyglaze, and have performed at venues such as Bristol Beacon, Yes Manchester and The Brixton Windmill.
They are looking forward to a summer of festival slots with numerous already confirmed.
The band are also a personal favourite of Manchester-based American songwriter BC Camplight.
